I am so blessed to be in a position where I can discuss with clients the importance of skin care and the true importance of protecting your skin. I get asked by a lot clients if I would ever consider adding a tanning beds and my answer will always and forever be no. Last year my husband was diagnosed with skin cancer (Melanoma) in its final stages he is EXTREMELY lucky to be in remission right now. Tumors had spread from his lung, to his sinus cavities, and into his brain.. Skin Cancer starts at the skin but can spread to the internal organs and unfortunately most people don't know that. All it takes is one bad sunburn before you are the age of 18 to double your chances. Fair skinned individuals and those with 20 or more moles are at highest risk. Regular tanning whether under the sun or in tanning beds puts you at even greater risk .Not only that, but if you start your skin cooking habit before age 30 your risk of developing Melanoma (the deadliest form of skin cancer) increases by an unbelievable 75%. Melanoma rates have tripled since the 1970's. Please reach for a sunblock before leaving the house and reapply often even when the sun is not shining!
